The opiod epidemic is in full swing amongst today’s top young acts in hip hop. What was once seen as a passing trend for the hip hop culture has become as of late more of a liability than a trend.
That liability claimed the life of Lil Peep today, an aspiring rapper many believe was well on his way to becoming a mainstream fixture in the industry. At the age of 21, after confirmation from friend and collaborator Mickey Cortez we’ve learned that another young life has been claimed by opiod addiction.
On behalf of the Connect Music, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and fans mourning the loss of Lil Peep. Born Gustav Åhr, 1996-2017. R.I.P.

This overdose is not simply about drug use but, it's ALSO about depression! Self medicated to help himself get through another show and another day. Lil Peep STILL has great potential to HELP PEOPLE w/ his lesson. It's so sad he had to learn his so hard.

I remember Lil peep telling me he is against the sexual abuse of women and people in the music industry… I will continue to push his vision thank you – Lil B

Lil peep dying should be an eye opener to not ridicule someone for their drug use but to talk to them about it. A lot of times it is just a coping mechanism to supress pain and illness. Being vocal with those you truly care about is so damn critical, don’t take it for granted.
